Santa Specials at GWR

Travel by steam train from Cheltenham Racecourse to Winchcombe (North Pole) through a long curved tunnel on the Santa Special at GWR, and visit Santa and his elves in his grotto.  Various dates from 1 December to 24 December.

When you arrive at Winchcombe the elves will meet you off the train, and make sure you have plenty of time to visit Santa and receive excellent presents especially selected by him for each age group before your train returns to Cheltenham.

  • Travel by steam-hauled train from Cheltenham to the North Pole (at Winchcombe) to meet Santa and then back to Cheltenham.
  • A great festive spirit on the fourteen mile round trip.
  • Activity sheet and crayons on the train.
  • Visit Santa in his grotto surrounded by twinkling lights and lots of presents.
  • Complimentary mince pies, hot and cold drinks, biscuits and fruit in the station coffee shop.
  • Top quality presents for the children.
  • Babies under 1 year old travel free and receive a nominal present only.

 

Or travel from  Toddington station by an early 1960’s diesel rail car with Santa and his young elves on board the train, spending lots of time sitting with each family.

The number of tickets sold on these trains will be limited, so you will have plenty of space for your family, and there is the added excitement of seeing Santa coming down the train talking to everyone and giving out excellent presents.

  • Travel by diesel railcar from Toddington over the viaduct towards Broadway, then back towards Winchcombe before returning to Toddington.
  • A great festive spirit on the ten mile round trip.
  • Goody bag consisting of activity sheet, pencils and sweets for all children on arrival.
  • Santa travels on the train and visit you at your seat.
  • Plenty of space on the train as we limit numbers to around 25 children on each trip
  • Complimentary mince pies, hot and cold drinks, biscuits and fruit in a railway carriage after the train ride.
  • Top quality presents for the children.
  • Babies under 1 year old travel free and receive a nominal present only.
  • An ideal visit for smaller children who might be afraid of Santa in a dark grotto.
  • The Santa experience lasts about an hour and a quarter.
