Winchcombe Day Care Centre Mud Run

Strong-armed staff and volunteers from Winchcombe Day Care Centre are preparing to brave mud, muck, obstacles and cold water by taking part in this year’s Devil Mud Run on 15 September – and they’d love your support.

The fundraising group are all novices to the hard core event which consists of a 9km course with 31 obstacles set out over rugged Cotswold terrain and woodland at Gretton – designed to test their physical and mental strength, skill and stamina.

The nine-strong team includes Manager Vicky Weaver, Deputy Manager Sarah Hartley and staff members Jackie Faulder, Angela Howes, Debra Lyons, Transport Manager Ian Russell, plus volunteers Anne Weaver, Helen Seabright and Josh Barrington.Winchcombe Day Care Centre Mud Run

They hope to raise £1,000 in sponsorship that will go towards running the Centre – that now runs without any funding.

Vicky said: “None of us have tackled the Devil Mud Run before and we know we will be climbing, jumping, wading, sliding, crawling and falling through plenty of mud and lots of water. It’s great to be entering as a Day Centre team and we’re confident that together we will conquer this Devil’s playground of hills, swamps, mud and water. All proceeds go to the Centre and we’re hoping the Winchcombe community will support us for this very good cause.”

You can sponsor the Day Centre team online at  or,  visit the Centre, Monday to Friday, during working hours to make a cash donation.

Winchcombe Day Care Centre this year celebrates 25 years in its purpose-built accommodation in Langley Road. A registered charity, it provides activities, outings and a social meeting place for older people who may live alone, have a physical disability or live with Dementia.
